Ashram Guidelines

Humble Request

Every generation must lay down guiding rules for the next generation. Just as there is spiritual discipline at Shri Kshetra Nimbal, similarly, it is necessary to establish discipline and certain rules regarding behavior. These rules will indirectly but surely prove beneficial for everyone's spiritual practice (Sadhana).

The following things are being conveyed politely and affectionately to all sadhak brothers and sisters. Everyone's cooperation is expected.

Clothes

Just as we wear different types of clothes on different occasions in our daily lives, this should also be considered when coming to Shri Kshetra Nimbal. For this, we feel that some rules which have been followed since the past should be reiterated once again, so that it will be easier for the newly arriving devotees. Clothes should be loose-fitting.

Women Clothing Guidelines

For Women

  • An earnest request that while coming to the ashram and during the stay here, one should wear a saree, or if wearing a Punjabi dress, it must be worn with a Dupatta (Odhni). A Dupatta is mandatory.
  • Wearing any kind of tight clothes, e.g., jeans, leggings, or similar clothes, is strictly prohibited.
  • Wearing gowns is prohibited in the Samadhi Temple and the Prasad Hall. As an earnest instruction, gowns should not be worn even while sleeping in the Samadhi Temple.
  • Similarly, everyone including little girls must apply Kumkum or a Bindi on their forehead.
Men Clothing Guidelines

For Men

  • Jhabba-Pajama or comfortable clothes in which one can sit cross-legged should be worn.
  • Track pants, half pants, bermudas, jeans, and t-shirts should not be worn.
  • Simple shirts and pants are acceptable, but they should not be in loud/bright colors. White pajama and shirt are preferred.

(There is no intention to criticize anyone's clothes here.)

Samadhi Mandir

During the time of Nema (spiritual practice schedule), it is expected to sit for Nema in the temple itself. Reading or sitting in the room is not allowed.

  • It is very necessary to maintain complete silence during Nema.
  • No one should reserve or block a seat - neither in the temple nor on a chair.
  • Most importantly, a person already sitting for Nema should not be asked to get up for a seat. Such an act will not be liked even by our Sadguru.
  • While standing for Bhajans, only those who know the Bhajans by heart should stand in the first row. (Those singing by looking at a book should stand behind).
  • Only those who can play the Taal (cymbals) rhythmically and in tune should take them, and the Taal should be taken only by the sadhaks in the first row.
Mobile Guidelines

Strictly No Mobiles

No one should bring a mobile phone into the temple; if brought, it should only be used while singing Bhajans and Padas, otherwise using a mobile phone for any reason is prohibited.

Prasad Hall

Tea, breakfast, afternoon, and night Prasad (meals), everything must be taken in the Prasadalay itself according to their respective timings. One should not take it to their room or anywhere outside to eat.

Strictly Prohibited

  • No TV, Radio or Newspapers
  • No Smoking, Cigar or Bidi
  • No Alcohol, tobacco, Gutkha or drugs
  • No Non-Veg
  • Not a Holiday Resort or Old Age Home
Important Notice

All sadhaks must register their arrival at the Nimbal Ashram office at least 2 to 3 days before coming to Nimbal so that it will be easy to make arrangements for everyone.

"These rules are mandatory for all male and female sadhaks. So that through the conduct of our sadhaks, the decorum of our ashram and thereby the glory of our revered Sadguru remains intact. Let us continuously increase the glory of our supreme revered Sadguru through our conduct and Sadhana..."
